All Gods and Goddesses are aspects of the All. Therefore the choice of the deities one practicing the Craft works with is very individual. Comming from a variety of traditions, one can work with deities from the same pantheon, or cross into others.
Here are some common examples:
Greek Pantheon:
Aphrodite
Apollo
Artemis
Demeter
Gaia
Hera
Eros
Hermes
Pan
Roman Pantheon:
Ceres
Diana
Juno
Luna
Mars
Pluto
Hindu Pantheon:
Agni
Durga
Indra
Kali
Krishna
Brahma
Celtic Pantheon:
Brigid
Herne
Morrigan
Ogma
This list is just a short list of the many Gods and Goddesses that are invited to the Wiccan traditions.
Working with a deity is done usually only with the upmost care and after extended research, and the upmost respect toward the tradition and it's origin. Working with a deity to us, means to work in cooperation, not to beg favors, but to combine the energy with in us individual and the deity we are talking to.

fascinating as always. i am intrigued by the vase… i don't remember seeing a Greek goddess with wings before… even Hermes has winged sandals not angel type wings. hmm!
I was startled by the same thing, Nicole, but then was told, that Gaia was sometimes shown with wings as these. What new things we learn - it never stops to amaze me!
I am greately enriched. As my token of appreciation, I am quoting the Vedic Hymn to Agni which, I hope, would complement your blog. Incase people feel interested in hymns to other Hindu deities you have mentioned, please let me know Claudia… I shall most humbly try to publish them.
Hymn To Agni, Rig Veda 1.1
Agni we adore, the foremost placed,
the Deity of our rite, the Priest,
the Invoker, the highest Source of treasure.
Agni, adored by poets old,
is adored by new poets too;
he will bring us the Devas here.
Through Agni man finds prosperity,
nourishment from day to day,
glory and greatest pride in heroes.
Agni, this holy sacrifice
thy presence fills from every side;
it verily goes to the Devas.
May Agni, Invoker, wise Sage,
the true, most marvellous in splendour,
the Deva, come with all the Devas.
Whatever blessing, o Agni,
thou givest to the worshipper,
that, refulgent One, is thy truth.
To thee, Agni, dispeller of night,
we come with prayer day by day,
offering thee our obeisance,
Thee who rulest our holy rite,
Protector of Eternal Law,
bright, waxing in thy own abode.
Like father to son, thou Agni,
be easy of access to us,
be with us for a life of bliss.
Thank you Eli! See, as we find out more about eachother, we can find similarities within so many unexpected places! This is why I want people to look closer - at different faiths, at paths that are out of the “mainstream” - whatever that is at the moment.
I am so honored to add another wonderful piece of beautiful prayer to my collection - you are adding quite a few to it, Eli.
It is my pleasure to give back to you, after you have already given to me, and enriched my stay here on Gaia.
Claudia,
In my blog Dynamics of Ethical Survival I have tried to humbly discuss the reason why “Truth” is SAME. I quote from that blog
“It may be very difficult to name these very few “values” which are the fundamental invariant upon which the survival of the entire universe rests”
This is why ALL FAITHS ARE MY FAITH.
I love you for what you are, who you are, and as you are
Eli
Yes, thanks Eli and Claudia. You are both expanding the horizons of many here on Gaia. I am glad to have learned that about the vase, and ancient art! love to you both
That is a rather intriging image of Gaia with wings chasing a rabbit. Very dreamy!
Phoenix, so glad you decided to share your beliefs here, we are all enriching one anothers learning, loving, appreciating, coming together as One
..not to beg favours….I agree with this..crucial, I think….and to carry out appropriate research…yes!!…I also believe that we need to understand That with which we transact.
Warmly, Jon x
