This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for April 05, 2009:
Complex question, so I will seperate my answer to different aspects of Astrology.
Do I believe in horoscopes? Only if I have the reading done by someone I trust - and have given them adaquate information to make a chart.
Do I believe that the positions of planets influence people, and therefore should be considered? Yes, just think about how many people act differently on a Full Moon. But I also believe, that armed with information on the planets, you can influence your own life better - working with the Universe, instead of against it.
Do I use astrology in my daily life? Yes, I check moon-of-void courses, when I want to conduct magick, as well as the planetary hours for the extra power that I might need. I have considered moon-phases when planting. As a part of my faith, I celebrate the Full Moon with a ritual, and the New Moon with contemplation. If someone acts out of character, I check if there is a planet in retrograde to see if that is the reason they are acting differently. Through the ruling planet of the day, I can stay balanced, not forgetting to attent to each area of my life, or at least acknoledge it, by remembering the association each day has with it's assigned planet.
There are other ways I use astrology - such as considering the associations between tools, herbs, and such with the time of the year, which sign the sun is in, and so forth, but that is too much to get into right now. Maybe next time.
Blessed Be!

Claudia,
Our beliefs regarding astrology are very much in alignment.
Important point, free will always reigns supreme. I can take an understanding of the energies in play, that I get from considering the astrological influences, and change my reaction, thereby changing the trajectory that would have affected me otherwise.
Thank you also for the information about spiritual use of the moon energies - full moon for ritual or practice and new moon for contemplation or meditation.
Like you, I consult astrology at times to perceive, with less individual judgment, the reasons for someone else' actions.
I've always been drawn to the idea of considering moon phases in gardening but don't get nearly enough time working soil.
Blessed Be indeed.
Deb
Thank You, Deb!
One book on Full Moon rituals, that I enjoyed reading is called “A Year of Ritual” by Sandra Kynes. It is filled with rituals and info for each Esbat and also for the Sabbats. I like using the rituals within it, as an idea for designing my own.
Have you made any plans for Beltane yet?
Hugs!
